(Always) Check In – (single version)
‘(Always) Check In’ emerged from a unique collaboration at HMP Barlinnie, where a group of men working with SISCO while on remand came together to channel hope, uncertainty and the passage of another day into music. Supported by musician Louis Abbott, over five weekly sessions the group turned fragments of past regrets and future promises into a catchy, deceptively lazy sounding sing-along with real emotional weight behind it. Captured in situ in the prison, the chorus and whistled harmonies carry a sense of the creativity and community that was built together.
A further reflection on the sessions can be read here.
This song is also available on Spotify and Bandcamp.
