This belter of a protest song was written during a Distant Voices song-writing session in the women’s wing of HMYOI Polmont in November 2018. The song was a joy to co-write with Emma and Ashleigh who wanted to write a song that would communicate their critiques of the system but also get the whole prison dancing! Louis based the melody on the chords from ‘Stand By Me’ as this was a song that Emma could already play on guitar.  This is a project demo, recorded onsite as part of the workshop.
