In April, women and staff at Dundee’s Bella Centre (a community custody unit) spent two days immersed in honest, powerful songwriting. With support from professional musicians, we explored themes like identity, motherhood, grief, hope, and change - and wrote them into songs that reflect real experience and deep emotion. In May, the group reunited to further shape and record the songs, making creative choices about sound, structure, and feel. These tracks are more than just music - they’re bold, personal expressions of voice and agency.
All songs were written with support from musicians Chris Duncan (C Duncan), Jill O'Sullivan (Jill Lorean), and Louise McCraw (Goodnight Louisa). You can read more about the session here.
