Natures Gate – (single version)

Paper Planes: Volume 2 - January 2026

This months song - Natures Gate

Nature’s Gate began life as a piano piece during one of our weekly community creative sessions. Grace was improvising when Deek started to sing along - also improvising lyrics as he went. There was an immediate poignancy to what he was expressing, and we quickly noted down some of his words.

Deek describes himself as an old school punk and often resists committing ideas to paper or working within fixed structures. In this case, though, the words clearly mattered enough for him to return to them and shape them into a recorded song. Captured live to preserve space for more improvisation, the recording reflects themes Deek often speaks about, sang with warmth and openness. His harmonica weaves through the piece, giving the track a gentle, easy-listening feel.

This song is available to listen to across streaming platforms.
