Introducing the Amplify Class of 2022!
The Amplify class of 2022 are ready to get started!
Amplify is a collaboration between Vox Liminis, Goodtrees Neighbourhood Centre and Edinburgh International Festival. It launched in 2021 and provided an opportunity for young people who had helped support their local community during the COVID-19 pandemic to write, record and perform their own songs.
To kick off the New Year, the original Amplify group held a brilliant playback evening where they got to perform and celebrate the songs. The musicians who were involved in the project – Goodnight Louisa, Nova and Kim Edgar- also shared some lovely tunes. We look forward to these Amplify songs making their way into the world…keep your eyes peeled for more news on that soon.
It’s been amazing to see the young people involved grow in confidence. For some, it was the first time they had ever performed or sang in front of other people, let alone in a recording studio. The group were really supportive of each other, encouraging one another to “Go for it!” on the mic.
MacKenzie spoke about how he found the experience, “…really happy, cause it’s sort of like we all done it together. It all came from scratch, like, with Nova’s help. And all of us coming together and making the song. I think what we’ve done has been really good. What yous have done for us has been really good, and we’ve been really thankful that we’ve had this opportunity.”
It’s safe to say we’re very excited about what’s to come for the ‘Class of 2022’. Watch this space!
