Inside Out Songs
In August, we were delighted to welcome participants from our June 2024 songwriting workshop at HMP Castle Huntly to our Glasgow studio on day release. This gave them the opportunity to record their original songs and get acquainted with our creative space and community
Two of the tracks had already gained attention at Solas Festival in July, where co-writers on day release had the experience of hearing their music performed live for the first time. They were supported by musicians Gav McGinty and Dave Webster, who brought the songs to life on stage.
We’re excited to share two recordings of ‘I Remember’, a song written by Stephen and Dave Webster. The first version was captured live in the garden at HMP Castle Huntly on the day the song was completed, and the second was recorded in our studio in August. The studio version features the musical talents of Dave, Gav, and Unbound community member Lee, who each added their unique input to enhance the track. Johnny Cypher expertly handled the recording process, making sure that every suggestion was tried, but keeping only what Stephen felt was right.
