Name: Fergus McNeill
Institution: SCCJR, University of Glasgow
Fergus is Professor of Criminology & Social Work at the University of Glasgow. His research is focused mostly on punishment, rehabilitation and reintegration, and their reform. In a previous life, he lived and worked in a residential drug rehabilitation centre for 3 years before qualifying and working as a social worker in the criminal justice system.
Distant Voices builds on several of Fergus’s previous projects; it evolved in part as a response to one of the messages from the ‘Desistance Knowledge Exchange Project’: namely, that we need to find more creative ways to educate and engage the public in dialogue about reintegration after punishment.
