We have now undertaken four Vox Sessions projects, the last two in HMP Shotts and HMP Castle Huntly. Participants, some with previous musical experience, and some with none at all, work with professional singer songwriters to write their own songs.
In Shotts, Andrew Howie and Rachel Sermanni worked with Eddie, who wrote the song below. In his words: ‘I was inspired to write this song by coming to prison and thinking back to my wife telling me to stop doing what I was doing what I was doing (drug dealing). She was a very family-orientated woman and only wanted the simple things in life, but I wanted more, out of pure greed. Now I’m wishing I’d have listened more to my wife, I’ve destroyed my family and for that I’m truly sorry.’
