Vox Saturdays

Since October 2017 we’ve been collaborating with East End First Saturdays (EEFS). The initiative, set up by our friends in Many Studios, encourages folk to get down to the east end on market day to explore what’s on offer, from food and music to art and design. It’s great!

From 1 til 4 on a Saturday afternoon we open our offices for a relaxed open mic. Folks off the street join musicians we work with (professionals and keen amateurs alike) to play some of their own material, and some songs from across Distant Voices, Unbound and In Tune.

Over the last few months we’ve had cracking headline sets from C Duncan, Emma Pollock, Louis Abbott and Donna Maciocia, alongside ‘make your own Christmas card’ workshops and table tennis sessions.

There’s a lovely family-friendly vibe to Vox Saturdays; we will be introducing free In Tune family music making workshops this year. Why not subscribe to our mailing list (in the taskbar at the top) or like our socials to keep in the loop about when we’re running the next one?

Alongside what we do, there’s always tons of other stuff on the go in the rest of East End First Saturdays. If you’re into your food there’s BaAD, Mc-Cune Smith, and the Ross St Market. For the art lovers amongst you, our ace neighbours at Wild & Kind open their studios to a different artist each month, with the Pipe Factory, Glasgow Women’s Library and Market Gallery also nearby.

Best of all you’ve got the buried treasure in the Barras itself! Moving to the east end has placed us in the middle of an exciting, diverse community, which we’re really enjoying. We love being here – why not come and see why?!
